One-Time Volunteer Opportunities
Saint Louis University’s Center for Social Action promotes many forms of community engagement, from episodic service to more in-depth involvement. This list of one-time volunteer opportunities will help SLU students, faculty or staff make a difference based on your schedule and interests. Many are perfect for groups.
March
Feeding Families Program
What: Volunteers are needed to help deliver ready-to-eat or ready-to-heat meals to families
with young children who are food insecure, through this program sponsored by the SLU
School of Social Work. Volunteers receive training.
When: 10:30 a.m. - Noon, Fridays throughout March and April (March 6, 13, 20, 27 and April
3, 10, 17, 24)

Missouri Regional Science Bowl
What: Volunteers are needed to help with this academic competition for middle and high
school students. Assistance needed with all aspects of the event, including registration,
hospitality, judging, scoring and timekeeping.
When: Shifts available anytime afternoon or evening on Friday, March 6 and anytime all
day on Saturday, March 7

What: Volunteers are needed for a community garden clean-up day, helping to weed, trim
and move compost/soil in preparation for the planting season.

Great Rivers Greenway
What: Volunteers are needed to help cut back native grasses and perennials in preparation
for Spring growth along one of three greenway sites. All tools and supplies provided,
no experience needed. Registration is required to participate.
