The SSM Health/Saint Louis University School of Medicine Breast Imaging Fellowship Program offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary training at an accredited Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center.

A Message From the Program Director

Welcome to the Breast Imaging Fellowship Program.

We are passionate about breast health, and this fellowship provides trainees with high-quality education and clinical training in all aspects of breast imaging. In a supervised academic environment, fellows will become proficient in mammography, ultrasound, and breast MRI interpretation and intervention. They will also have opportunities for teaching and research.

Program Overview

The 12-month, ACGME-accredited breast imaging fellowship includes dedicated training in:

  • Digital mammography
  • Tomosynthesis
  • Breast and axillary ultrasound
  • Breast MRI
  • Image-guided breast procedures

Fellows perform a wide range of percutaneous interventional procedures and learn from specialists across breast surgery, breast pathology, radiation oncology, medical oncology and genetics.

Fellows will rotate through SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. The hospital's breast center is designated as a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center by the American College of Radiology and is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.

  • Biweekly Breast Tumor Board Conference attendance/presentations

Apply

The fellowship program has one available position per year. Applicants should be graduates of ACGME-accredited diagnostic radiology programs and either board-certified or already certified by the American Board of Radiology.

Requirements

Applications will be accepted from Jan. 12 to March 31. Email melanie.schwartz@slucare.ssmhealth.com the following information:

  • Society of Breast Imaging universal application
  • Personal statement
  • CV
  • USMLE/COMLEX/ECFMG score reports
  • Medical school transcripts
  • Three letters of recommendation written with the past 12 months (directly from the writer on official letterhead)

All interview are held virtually.

The fellowship program participates in the Breast Imaging Fellowship Match Program, which is sponsored by the National Resident Matching Program. BIFMP guidelines are used for accepting applications and interviews.
